The fact that the cities which have existed for centuries have to be remembered with their architectural structures have become stronger today. And now cities / city inhabitants have become proud of their majestic museums, stadiums, concert halls, opera houses, skyscrapers, hotels and bridges. For this reason, the project's main idea, beyond presenting an international standard opera house in Izmir, is to design a monumental building which is an indication of the economic, cultural and technological level in which the city comes with public institutions and organizations, university, local government and social life. And also most importantly main idea is to design a monumental building that will shape the appreciation of children who will grow in this city.
The fact that the land on which the opera will be built is at the center of one of the new developing areas of the city has encouraged the use of dynamic forms in design. It was considered as an advantage that the land is on the sea side so the main masses and facades of the building complex were directed towards the sea by elevated from the interior of the city towards the sea. The formed square by continuing the dynamic form of the building on the land serves as a socialization space / culture park. This city square is designed to serve many social events such as open-air cinema and concerts.
Due to the completely transparent design of the facade of the building, the foyers on the upper levels dominates the design space and the sea, and also the halls can also be perceived from outside the building.
The area is intended to be a cultural park that will integrate the opera and the city inhabitants. The Martyrs Monument was repositioned according to the designed square and it was used as a design element within the square. Various functions such as art walls that can be dedicated to opera artists, sculptures and seating elements, urban lighting objects have been loaded to structural landscape elements that shows and emphasizes the opera from the starting the sea.
